April 16, 2010 - The Daily Record - "Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks and Rochester Mayor Robert Duffy joined the producers of the 2010 Lilac Festival recently to announce the entertainment schedule for this year’s festival.
The Lilac Festival, with its roots dating back to 1898, will be held from May 14-23 at Highland Park. Organizers say the festival is the largest of its kind in North America and the longest running festival in the greater Rochester area. More than 500 varieties of lilacs on 1,200 bushes are the main draw for the festival." ... (read more)
April 15, 2010 - The Democrat and Chronicle - "The Lilac Festival has been declared a top 100 destination for 2010 by the American Bus Association.
As a result, Rochester can expect even more visitors than usual for the festival that starts May 14, Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks said Wednesday. Last year, the festival saw 500,000 visitors during the 10 days, with an economic impact of more than $3 million, she said." ... (read more)
